Pianist Ye-Kyung Hong graduated from Yewon School and Seoul High School of the Arts and went on to complete her Bachelor’s degree at the Folkwang University of Music in Essen, Germany, where she received the highest practical score in all semesters and the unanimous highest grade from the jury. She then went on to earn a Master’s degree at Seoul National University. She performed at the opening ceremony of Yonsei University’s Chamber Hall, served as a lecturer for Yonsei University’s Learn-us course, and completed her doctorate(DMA) as a teaching assistant and Samil Cultural Foundation full scholar.
She has won top prizes in many Major Competitions, including the Boy’s Korea Daily Competition, Music Education Newspaper Competition, Music World Competition, Seoul Art Competition, Seoul Music Competition, Seoul Orchestra Competition, Korean Music Competition, New Music Competition, New Talent Competition, and Heiri Music Competition.
Starting with duo performances with world-renowned pianist Hye Sun Baek, she has been invited to perform at Schloss Borbeck, Museum Folkwang, Duisburg Konzertsaal, Essen Folkwang Kammermusiksaal, Neuer Saal, and Mozart Hall in North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as invited concerts at the Samunjin Narutor, the first piano in Korea. She has performed many concerts in Korea and abroad, such as the first Korean concert of the complete Bach harpsichord concertos with the N-Harmony Philharmonic Orchestra, Ye-kyung Hong Homecoming Piano Recital at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei, and the Ye-kyung Hong & Chae-yoon Lee Duo Recital at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei.
She has participated in masterclasses with Hardy Rittner, Christopher Hinterhuber, and Rolf-Dieter Arens, and participated in and performed at many music festivals, including the Gumi Music Festival, Courchevel Music Alp Festival in France, Saline Royale Academy in France, and Weimar Meisterkurs in Germany.
Having studied under Professors Jong-hoon Park, Hyung-jun Jang , Young-ho Kim, Thomas Günther and Yoonju Oh, She has given invited lectures on arts convergence education at So-Myung Girls’ High School, served as a piano instructor at Chung-buk Arts High School, Hana High School, and is currently teaching at Gyewon Arts Middle School and Pohang Arts High School.
