Jihak Oh was born in South Korea in 1992 and began taking piano lessons at the age of 10. In 2017 he completed his bachelor’s degree at Jeju National University in South Korea, as the top of his class. In 2020, he successfully completed his studies at the Carl-Maria-von-Weber Musik Hochschule in Dresden with Prof. Winfried Apel with a master’s degree. Since March 2020 he has been a student as Meisterklasse in the Musik Hochschule Dresden under the direction of Prof. Hinrich Alpers.

Concert appearances led him to his extensive repertoire different festivals; in Dresden he was at the Palais Sommer every year since 2020.

In 2015 he received the Golden Prize of the International Asia Piano

competition in Korea. In 2020 he received a scholarship from the DAAD

(German Academic Exchange Service). In addition, Jihak Oh was funded by the Carl Bechstein Foundation in 2021
