Ella Xu has at an early age shown brilliance and expressiveness in her performance and the ability to understand the composers writing.

10 years old Ella is a 5th grader from New York, United States. She started playing the oboe under the guidance of Allison Rubin at the age of 8. She has won the 1st prize in the Youth Winds competition; Brass Category of the Music International Grand Prix Competition (USA) and performed at the Merkin Concert Hall in NYC. She was selected as the 1st prize winner of the (Paris) Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition to perform at the Philharmonie de Paris. She is also the 1st prize winner of the AAMS Woodwind Competition (USA). 

An enthusiastic chamber player, Ella played in the Luzerne Music Camp Junior Orchestra and the Arlington Summer Band. She has played in the Luzerne Music Camp Woodwind Quintet, and is currently a member of the Beethoven Woodwind Trio at Bard College Preparatory Program.

Ella has also been recognized as an accomplished young pianist. She has been awarded 1st Prizes in many piano competitions, including the William Knabe International Piano Competition, the WPTA Singapore International Piano Competition (Platinum Award & Best Baroque Award), the London Youth Piano Competition (Gold Award), the International Grande Music Competition, and the Crescendo International Music Competition. 

Among her rich musical experiences, Ella has played in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Merkin Concert Hall, UMBC Concert Hall, and other prestigious venues.

When Ella is not making music, she loves coding, speedcubing, reading, and biking.
